Genesis, lines 1543-1648

The songs of Noah come forth from the Ark.  Noah begins to till the soil, and he plants a vineyard. He becomes drunk and falls asleep naked in his tent.  His son Cam [also spelled “Cham”] sees him, laughs and tell his brothers. [this is Ham in the Bible’s spelling.  For what it is worth, both times that “Cain” appears in the Beowulf manuscript, it is mis-spelled as “Cam.”].  They covered Noah.  When Noah awakes he is angry at Cam and states that he and his descendants should afterwards suffer.  Then the poet lists the descendants of the sons of Noah.
